WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned instant messaging app, has begun rolling out a new feature which allows users to join recurring group videos or voice calls after they have started. This feature will allow users to join group calls even if they miss the call. Users can also drop off and rejoin group WhatsApp calls easily with the update – provided that they are still in progress. With joinable calls, users can easily connect to group WhatsApp calls in person. WhatsApp also has a new call information screen. This will let users see all the people who have been invited to join the conversation, but have not yet joined. Instead of getting their details after they join the call, users can view the active participants from the call info screen.
Users will now be able to tap to join a group call, even if they missed it the first time. To use the new feature, users can simply log into their WhatsApp Call Log and tap on the call they wish to join. This will bring up the call information screen. To join the missed group call, users can click “Join” from there. This will work for group calls that are currently ongoing.
To start a video chat from a group chat on WhatsApp, users must open the WhatsApp group chat that they wish to video chat. Tap the Group Call button if the group has more than nine participants. You can tap Video Call if the group has 8 or fewer participants.
To make group video calls, tap on the Calls tab > New Call > New Group call > Find the contacts > Video Call.
Users need to open a WhatsApp chat with one contact > Tap video calling > Once the call has been accepted, tap Open > > Add Participants. To add another contact to the call, users can tap ADD. To add more participants to the group call, tap “Add Participant”.
