The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) suggested the names of shooter Manish Narwal, high jumper Sharad Kumar, shuttler Pramod Bhagat and lance hurler Sundar Singh Gurjar for Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2021. Every one of the four got shrubs for India the as of late closed Tokyo Paralympics. Deepa Malik, the President of the PCI, said winning the honor will propel competitors to perform well in the Paris Games in 2024. “Our players did as such well in this paralympic and we are pleased with them. These honors will persuade them to invest more energy in the following Games and they merit that too as they have made the country glad,” Deepa Malik told ANI.
Deepa further educated that lance hurler Sumit Antil and shooter Avani Lekhara’s names have been suggested for Arjuna Award.
“Sumit Antil and Avani Lekhara will go for Arjuna Award this time, the two of them have made the country pleased with their decorations,” she said.
Last month, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur said the decoration victors in the Tokyo Paralympics will be compensated at the current year’s National Sports Awards and henceforth the function was delayed.
