Recently, I took out Samsung’s new smartphone and took several photos with the latest Pixel. Galaxy S22 Ultra vs Pixel 6 Pro The showdown, and generally the S22 Ultra, went pretty well. In fact, Samsung phones delivered better night mode photos outdoors, and the food photos looked better.

I think this one photo is compelling enough, but I’d like to give you some other examples of how the S22 Ultra seems to be allergic to the sun.
Take this photo of the fountain in Bryant Park. I like the contrast in the S22 Ultra photos, but it looks like the left side of the fountain, which has the strongest sunlight, is blown off again. The Pixel 6 Pro captures these complex details and cannot be re-added by editing the S22 Ultra Shot.
The Pixel 6 Pro’s photo may look too uniform and not sunny, but even the building behind the fountain in the S22 Ultra’s photo is overwhelmed by sunlight.
This last photo taken at Times Square on a sunny day shows that the Pixel 6 Pro’s excellent HDR performance is working. The SUV in the foreground and the people in front of it are much more noticeable, and Google’s camera renders the surrounding buildings and signs better.
If you look at the pictures of the Galaxy S22 Ultra from a distance, you can see that the sign on the left is too bright and the building against the blue sky is too hot. The Pixel 6 Pro provided an overall well-exposed image.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra has several other photographic advantages, such as a super clear lens that reduces lens flare when shooting video at night. Also, the Pixel 6 Pro’s 10x optical zoom and 100x space zoom outperform the 20x digital zoom. But when it comes to overall image quality, I’m in favor of the Pixel 6 Pro.
